Karthi’s film in controversy

Even before Karthi’s fifth flick hit the screens, the actor’s courted controversy!
Recently, cadres of a community-based political party staged a protest near Karthi’s house, objecting to Karthi playing the role of Rocket Raja, a pickpocket, in the Siva-directed film. They said it would malign the name of their party president, whose name is also Rocket Raja!
Reacting to the protest, producer of the film, Gnanavel, in a press release, said, “The film, which is based on a Telugu superhit, is purely fictitious. It’s not about any particular society or or person. Siva has made this film in an entertaining way and has not hurt anyone’s sentiments.” With the film hitting the screen yesterday, let’s hope the controversy dies down.
