When Bandi Saroj Kumar directed the movie, Porkalam (battlefield) last year, little did he expect that he would soon find himself on one in real life. Yes, all is not well between the director and D Baskar Rao, the producer of Porkalam, who, through his manager, has now levelled a series of allegations against the director. According to sources, the director had earlier lodged a complaint with the police stating that the producer had assaulted him.
Claimed Atheeshvar, the spokesperson and manager of Baskar Rao’s concern, “After Porkalam, we are in no way associated with him. When this is the scenario, he (director Bandi Saroj Kumar) has used our banner’s name on the promos of his next film without acquiring the permission for it. One could watch these promos on a popular video sharing website until a while back.
Explaining further, he said, “After Porkalam, Bandi Saroj Kumar kept visiting our office several times, requesting an appointment with my boss. And so, my boss decided to accede to his request. When he met Bandi, he questioned him as to how he could use the banner on his next film’s promos without acquiring permission for it. It was at this point that Bandi and his associates turned abusive. As my boss was leaving his place, he lodged a complaint with the police stating that my boss had assaulted him. The cops, after inquiring the issue, told us that we’d discuss the issue the next day. Meanwhile, we have lodged a complaint with the producers’ council and are awaiting their decision.”
