Joel Embiid’s handstand stunt viral video draws mixed reactions from former NBA players

Joel Embiid’s latest viral moment has sparked a heated debate among former NBA players. A video of the Philadelphia 76ers star performing a handstand recently surfaced, drawing mixed reactions from the basketball community. Some praised his athleticism and body control, while others questioned whether it was a risky move for a player with his injury history. As Embiid continues to recover from a knee issue, the clip has fueled discussions about his health and long-term availability.

Joel Embiid’s viral video of him doing a handstand surfaced on social media. The clip gained attention just before the 76ers (box score) faced the Lakers. His latest stunt has raised eyebrows as he is still listed as out due to his injury. Embiid has been sidelined for 12 straight games and has only played 13 this season.

On FanDuel TV’s Run It Back, former NBA players Lou Williams and Chandler Parsons shared their views on Joel Embiid’s handstand video. “That’s not how this works,” Williams said.
“You should see some of the things that go on behind the scenes. This is nothing, this looks like after practice, fooling around, just trying to be a distraction. I’m cool with it, I’m used to seeing basketballs getting kicked around, all types of stuff,” he added.
Parsons joined the conversating giving his thoughts on Embiid’s recent stunt, “Could he have better social awareness with the media coming in?” Parsons said. “But at the end of the day, if you know Joel at all, you know he’s just a good time, he’s a jokester. He’s a prankster.”
According to TNT's Jared Greenberg, Embiid is expected to miss the Philadelphia 76ers' game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. Greenberg further revealed that Embiid has been participating in the team's recent practices.
“The news is starting to get better on the injury front,” Greenberg said of Embiid’s injury. “Number one, a partial participant in practice yesterday, which was a big step. He is ramping up towards a return. The key for Embiid, who was on the court today, very strange scene, in full uniform. You rarely see that from players warming up, let alone players who are not playing in full uniform,” he continued.
Greenberg went on to add, “They need to see how that knee, been dealing with swelling. Not only response to the practice that he did yesterday, but how he feels with days afterwards. They need to continue to increase the load on that knee and see if he’s ready. He’s not ready to return tonight, he won’t play tomorrow, you can expect another update on Embiid from the team by the latest, Thursday. It does appear, he’s getting closer.”
