Film based on Odisha’s social and cultural
Director Ajay Swain is all set to begin the shooting of his next movie, “Banshi”, the muhurat of which was recently held in a city hotel.
“My film will be based on Odisha’s social and cultural background,” said Ajay.
For those who came in late, the movie is based on how the banshi (flute) is vanishing day by day from the society and is only confined to classical music recitals. The lead character — flutist Banshi — will be played by newcomer Ronak. “Banshi is a true art lover who strives to save the musical instrument from fading into oblivion. I am confident that I will play the character well. Being a debutant, I am pinning my hopes on this movie,” said Ronak, who left his job at a private firm to take up acting as a full-fledged career.
Actors from the Odia cinema industry including Uttam Mohanty, Ajit Dash, Raicharan Das and Binu were present on the occasion. The movie will have four songs of which two will be shot in Gangtok and Darjeeling. Newcomer Pinky will play the female lead in the movie. While the script of the movie is written by Amaresh Biswal, music is composed by Dipu Pattnaik.
