SURIYA, Venkatesh and now, Chiranjeevi Sarja. Yes, the newcomer will step into the shoes of the versatile Tamil actor and the Telugu superstar in the Kannada version of Kaakha Kaakha (KK; Gharshana in Telugu).
How did Chiranjeevi bag the coveted role? “About a month ago, I was told that I would be doing the film. I was very excited as well as scared, because audiences will naturally compare me against the benchmarks set by Suriya and Venkatesh,” replies Chiru.
For him, it’s been a dream role ever since the original released.

“I watched KK when it released in Chennai. As soon as I saw a poster of Suriya outside the theatre, I wanted to play the role,” says Chiranjeevi, adding, “I’ve even practised living like ACP Anbuselvan (Suriya’s character in KK) for a day. Once I wore the costume and played the part, my friends said I would definitely suit the character,” says the newbie, who’s been watching a lot of cop films. He’s even interacting with real cops. “I’m learning their body language and mannerisms,” says Chiru.
And who better than Chiranjeevi’s uncle, Action King Arjun Sarja, to advise him on how he can best play the role? “The day he got to know that I’m doing the remake of Kaakha Kaakha, he told me I should be more responsible and start grooming myself. He told me, ‘Make sure you don’t make even one mistake.’ He’s been giving ideas every day,” says Chiranjeevi. After his discussion with Arjun, the Vaayuputra actor also plans to meet Suriya soon.
