Pollywood weekly roundup: Top 5 Punjabi movies that made headlines this week

The Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta starrer ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ has been creating news right from the word go, and this week it turned heads as the teaser of the movie came out. Featuring a sweet tiff between a guy from Amritsar and the Chandigarh girl, the teaser hinted at the romantic comedy that the movie will be offering.

Releasing on May 24th, it is a Karan R Guliani film. Further, it is being produced by Sumit Dutt, Anupama Katkar and Eara Dutt.

After the success of ‘Guddiyan Patole’, the same team is coming up with another movie. Titled ‘Kabootar’ the movie is slated to release on April 3rd, 2020. Its announcement was made this week only, and it will once again bring Gurnam Bhullar and Sonam Bajwa in the lead. Moreover, the credit for writing goes to Jagdeep Sidhu and Gurpreet Singh Palheri, while Vijay Kumar Arora will be directing the same. The movie is being produced by Bhagwant Virk and Nav Virk.

Another movie that announced this week is ‘Ni Main Sass Kutni’. Helmed by Parveen Kumar, the movie is scheduled to release in the Summers of 2020. The movie is about a sweet and salty relationship between mother in law and daughter in law. Reportedly Nirmal Rishi has been zeroed down to play the mother in law and contemporary actresses Simi Chahal, Neeru Bajwa and Sonam Bajwa are being considered for the character of two daughters in law.

Punjabi singer-actor Preet Harpal is making his way back to the big screen with ‘Lukan Michi’. The trailer of the same came out yesturday. Featuring the tale of love and rivalry the movie is packed with all the elements of entertainment. This movie for the first time is bringing Preet Harpal and Mandy Takhar together on the big screen, and at the same time is featuring the loved duo of Guggu Gill and Yograj Singh standing against one another.

The stellar cast of the movie includes Preet Harpal, Mandy Takhar, Amrit Aulakh, Yograj Singh, Guggu Gill, Hobby Dhaliwal, BN Sharma, Karamjeet Anmol and Gurchet Chitarkar. Directed by M Hundal, the movie will release on May 10th.

Another movie which is releasing on May 10th is ‘15 Lakh Kadon Aauga’. The trailer of the same dropped this week. It’s a story of a con man who tries to pursue people to bring a certain political party in power, as the party promises to give a sum of 15 Lakh to everyone. It’s a twisted tale of laughter and confusion.

The ensemble cast of the movie includes Ravinder Grewal, Pooja Verma, Hobby Dhaliwal, Malkeet Rauni, Gurpreet Bhangu, Seema Kaushal, Jaswant Rathore, Khiyali and Ajay Jethi.
