Anand Abhyankar

Anand Abhaynkar, a well-known actor in the movies 'Spandan', 'Balgandharva', 'Matichya Chuli', 'Vaastav', passed away in a car accident at Mumbai Pune express highway in December 2012. He was 48 at the time of his death. Losing an actor like him is an irreparable loss to the film industry.

Reema Lagoo

Reema Lagoo was prominently known for her roles in Marathi and Hindi movies. Her best works include, 'Reshamgaath', 'Janma', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!', ' Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ', ' Vaastav' etc. She was most popular for the role of a mother she played in most of the movies. The actress passed away due to a severe heart attack during her shoot and she was just 58 years. She was best known for her role in the iconic daily soap 'Tu Tu Main Main'.

Laxmikant Berde

He was the superstar of Marathi industry. The king of comedy. He was best known for his roles in Marathi films such as 'Ashi Hi Banava Banavi', 'Balache Baap Brahmachari', 'Eka Peksha Ek', 'Bhootacha Bhau', 'Thartharat', 'Dhadakebaaz and Zapatlela'. He died due to a kidney ailment on Dec 6, 2004. His works in Bollywood were also commendable. He was one of the Marathi celebs with a massive fan following.

Smita Patil

She was one of the finest stage and film actresses of her time. She has won national as well as Filmfare awards for her acting skills. She garnered praise for her roles in 'Jait Re Jait', 'Umbartha', ' Manthan', 'Bhumika', 'Aakrosh', 'Chakra'. She was suffering from post-natal complications and passed away two weeks after son Pratik Babbar's birth. She was one of the accomplished actresses of Bollywood then.

Ashwini Ekbote

She was one of the popular names in Marathi theatres and films. She was a trained classical dancer. She made her mark in the Marathi film industry with the films like 'Mahasatta', 'Debu', 'Aarambh ', 'Coffee Ani Barach Kahi' etc. Her death was a real shock, as she died while performing a dance in a play on the stage during the show. She was just 44 years when she passed away.
