Film: Vasudev Balwant Phadke

Actor Ajinkya Deo played the title role in this film based on the life of revolutionary Vasudev Balwant Phadke. This film was Deo’s home production and released in 2008. Gajjendra Ahirey directed this film. The makers had done a lot of research to recreate the 18th century era. Stars like Sonali Kulkarni and Ramesh Deo were also a part of this film.

Film: Krantiveer Rajguru

Chinmay Mandlekar played the title role in this film based on the life of revolutionary freedom fighter Shivram Hari Shivguru, who fought against the Britishers for India's independence and was hanged along with Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The film released in the year 2010. An alumnus of National School of Drama Chinmay was extremely convincing as Rajguru in the film.

This film based on the assassination of British official Jackson released on 21st December 2013. The makers hosted the premier of this film at Vijayanand theatre in Nashik where Jackson was assassinated by the revolutionary Anant Kanhere. The makers started the movie at such a time that the scene of Jackson’s assassination in the film was seen at the precise time when Jackson was assassinated in 1909. The film stayed true to historical facts and cast included of newcomers. The cast of the film went through training various style of fights which were used by the revolutionaries in those days.

Film: Veer Savarkar

Renowned music composer Sudhir Phadke produced this film based on Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s life. The makers had referred to several literature written by Savarkar like his autobiographical book ‘Majhi Janmathep’. This was the first film in the world which was financed by public donations. The film’s mahurat scene was shot in 1990 but due to creative difference the project got delayed and finally completed in 1998. Actor Shailendra Gaud played the title role in the film. The film released in 2001 and in the year 2012 Gujarati version of the film was released by the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

Film: 22 June 1897

The film is based on the true life events leading to the assassination of a British official Charles Walter Rand, Assistant Collector of Pune and Chairman of the Special Plague Committee, Pune. The film focuses on what led the Chaphekar brothers to assassinate Rand and what were the consequences thereafter. The film was produced by National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC). The film made a mark at National Awards 1980 and won Silver Lotus in Best Feature Film on National Integration category and a Silver Lotus in Best Art Direction category.
