Vijay Kadam, a popular actor in Marathi cinema, breathed his last in the early hours of Saturday. He was 67.
According to reports, the senior actor was suffering from cancer for the last one and a half years. He was undergoing treatment but this morning he passed away. His demise has left the entire Marathi industry in a state of shock.
The actor is survived by his wife and son.
His cremation will take place this afternoon at the Andheri-Oshiwara crematorium. After battling cancer for the past one and a half year, he passed away at his home this morning.

The news of Vijay Kadam's passing was confirmed by his friend and fellow actor Jaywant Wadkar. Jaywant informed ANI that Vijay Kadam, who had been bravely battling cancer, died at his Mumbai home at the age of 67. Jaywant noted that while Kadam initially showed signs of recovery, his health eventually worsened, and he had suffered an acidity attack about 25 days ago.
Reflecting on Kadam's legacy, Jaywant said, “He was extremely talented. From Marathi cinema to Hindi films, he explored different kinds of projects throughout his decades-long career. It’s impossible to find an actor like him again. His death has left a void in the industry. He was like family to me."
For the unversed, Kadam's work on stage in the 80's to 90's earned him real recognition. He has also done theatre for a long time. He acted in many popular plays like 'Tourtour', 'Viccha Majhi Puri Kara', 'Pappa Sanga Kunache'. His last role was in the TV serial 'Ti Prat Aaliye'.
Kadam's versatility as an actor enabled him to portray a wide range of characters, from lighthearted to serious. He was especially renowned for his comedic performances in films such as Chashme Bahaddar, Police Line, and Halad Rusli Kunku Hasala. He acted in many Marathi films like 'Tere Mere Sapne', 'Irsal Karti', 'De Danadan', 'De Dhadak Bedhadak', and many more.
