​#Rewind2020: Subhash Ghai's 'Vijeta' to Pravin Tarde's 'Sarsenapati Hambirrao'; Marathi movies which were postponed this year

The outbreak of novel Coronavirus has affected life as we know it in a number of ways-including the shooting of many Marathi films which were delayed and the release had to be pushed to next year.

Some of the films like Amitabh Bachchan's 'AB Aani CD', and Prathamesh Parab's 'Doctor Doctor' got released on the digital platform this year. While the makers of other films have decided to wait until cinema halls re-open completely.

We bring you the list of Marathi films which were postponed this year:

​'Sarsenapati Hambirrao'

Pravin Tarde's historical film 'Sarsenapati Hambirrao' starring Gashmeer Mahajani, Shruti Marathe and Raqesh Bapat was one of the most anticipated films of 2020. The story of the film revolves around the life of an unsung warrior Hansaji Mohite, who was the military commander of the Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

​'Vijeta'

Subhash Ghai's multi starrer sports drama 'Vijeta' was released on 12th March. The film was very well received by the audience on day 1 and 2. Due to ongoing Coronavirus lockdown, the makers have postponed the films' release date.

​'Bali'

Swwpanil Joshi's much-awaited film, 'Bali' went on the floors before the lockdown was imposed. The post-production work of the film was completed recently during the lockdown. This film is expected to release in the first quarter of 2021

​'Neighbours'

Vinay Gholap's directorial 'Neighbours' starring Chetan Chitnis and Krutika Gaikwad was one of the highly anticipated movies of the year. The film was scheduled to release on 20th March 2020 but got postponed.

​​'Jungjauhar'

The historical enthusiast Digpal Lanjekar's 'Jungjauhar' was announced before lockdown. Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the makers have withdrawn the release of the film, keeping in mind the health and safety of the audience.

'Jungjauhar' is based on the life of the well-celebrated legend of Baji Prabhu Deshpande, who was a commander of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It stars Chinmay Mandlekar and Mrinal Kulkarni in lead roles.

​'Ajinkya'

A Kadir directorial starring Bhushan Pradhan Prarthana Behere Uday Tikekar, Pallavi Patil, Arun Nalawade and Ganesh Yadav, 'Ajinkya'

was the talk of the town since the makers released the poster of the film.

It was scheduled to hit the screens on March 20th, but the makers announced that the film has been postponed to 2021.
