Birthday Special: Music Composer Atul Gogavale's top songs that touched hearts

Atul Gogavale is one of the most successful music directors and composers in the Marathi and Bollywood film industries. In 2008, he won a National Film Award for the Best Music Director for his work in 'Jogwa'. Atul works in tandem with younger brother Ajay and the duo is popularly called Ajay-Atul. They began their musical career by working on an international music album, 'Vishwavinayaka' and later ventured out to scoring a number of Marathi and Bollywood films. From working on devotional tunes to commercial jingles and directing music for films, Atul's career has only seen an upward graph. On the occasion of the musician's 44th birthday, we bring you his best music compositions.

'Wajle Ki Bara'

'Wajle Ki Bara', this song from 'Natrang' featured Amruta Khanvilkar and Atul Kulkarni. Sung by Bela Shende, this song became a superhit Lavani number. It became famous for its exceptional music by Ajay-Atul, the renowned duo of Marathi industry. Lyrics of the song were penned by Guru Thakur.

‘Lallati Bhandar’

‘Lallati Bhandar’ won the Atul and his brother critical acclaim in the form of a National Award for the Best Music Directors. This track is a Gondhal, which is a traditional folk song with a dramatic narration of mythical stories. This one which sees devadasis singing of the Goddess Yellamma won them the top prize at the 56th National Film Awards from the Government of India. Director Rajiv Patil's film 'Jogwa' is set in the backdrop of a village in Karnataka, where some money minded people try to exploit the villagers in the name of superstition.

‘Malhar Wari’

‘Malhar Wari’ is a song from Ajay-Atul’s first album ‘Vishwavinayak’. Composed and sung by the duo, the song is a traditional folk number. Kedar Shinde used this track in his enjoyable film 'Aga Bai Arechya' which was an adaptation of the Hollywood film ‘What Women Want’. The film starred Sanjay Narvekar as Shriranga Deshmukh aka Ranga and Priyanka Yadav portrayed as Ranga's wife.

'Kombadi Palali'

'Kombadi Palali', the hit song from the Marathi movie 'Jatra', starring Bharat Jadhav and Kranti Redkar, was sung by Anand Shinde and Vaishali Samant and Ajay Gogavale. This upbeat number by the music duo Ajay-Atul will definitely get you grooving instantly. This track proved that they could compose wacky tunes as well. The wild lyrics by Jitendra Joshi makes the Hindi version pale in comparison to this one. 'Kombadi Palali' was remade in the Bollywood film 'Agneepath' starring Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, and Priyanka Chopra and featured Katrina Kaif.

'Sairat'

The Nagraj Manjule directed romantic drama 'Sairat' was a blockbuster in the Marathi film industry with its hard-hitting plot and songs like 'Zingat' and 'Yad Lagla' which was composed by Ajay and Atul. The upbeat dance number crooned by Atul managed to get everyone grooving to the peppy tunes. The song that was picturized on the story of teenage love based in an interior village of Maharashtra, went on to receive love overseas as well.

'Moraya Moraya'

'Moraya Moraya' from the movie 'Ulaadhal' is a Ganesh stuti, backed by a perfect Nasik dhol and traditional Marathi folk music by Ajay and Atul which won the hearts of the audience. It featured Makrand Anaspure, Lokesh Gupte, Subodh Bhave, Siddharth Jadhav, and others. This song is easily one of their most loved works. Ever since this song released, there hasn't been a single Ganeshotsav celebration where 'Moraya Moraya' hasn't been played.
