Ajinkya Deo remembers Ashalata Wabgaonkar

Veteran actress Ashtalata Wabgaonkar passed away early this morning today at a hospital in Satara. The actress succumbed to COVID-19 after testing positive for the infection recently. She was one of the 22 members of the Marathi serial ‘Aai Majhi Kalubai’ who had tested positive for COVID-19. Known for her roles in films like ‘Maherchi Sadi’, ‘Vahinichi Maya’, 'Zanjeer', 'Aahista Aashita', 'Woh Saat Din' and 'Sutradhar' among others, she was a well-known name on the Marathi theatre industry as well. Actor Ajinkya Deo has worked with her on various projects. Ajinkya shares, “First I read about her being tested positive and undergoing treatment. I also heard that she is doing fine and hoping that she will be fine soon. But today morning when I read the news of her demise, I was shocked. We have worked together in various projects. In fact, Ashalata tai had also worked with my parents (Ramesh and Seema Deo) in plays. I remember when I worked with her in the movie ‘Maherchi Sadi’ she was very kind and personally used to take care of me on the sets. In the movie she played the role of my mother. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to share the screen with her in various projects. We met in a function a few years ago and had a wonderful conversation. This is a terrible year. I hope this year will end soon.” On work front 'Ek Krantiveer: Vasudev Balwant Phadke' fame Ajinkya Deo was seen in Bollywood movie ‘Tanhaji’. He essayed the character Chandraji Pisal in the movie.
