“They never treated me as a newcomer or kept me aside”: Mohanlal on the love, respect and values he learned from cinema legends
On the day of the trailer launch of the much-anticipated pan-Indian movie 'Vrusshabha,' Mohanlal shared insight into his passion project, describing it as an eventful and special moment in his life, due to its creation, scale, emotional content, diversity of its creative elements, and the fact that it is different from all other projects he has worked on previously.
Mohanlal further emphasised that ‘Vrusshabha’ is different from the kind of films he usually does. “For me, it is a different film,” he said, underlining how the project pushed him into new territory as an actor.
Meanwhile, the makers of ‘Vrusshabha’, directed by Nanda Kishore, have released the official trailer, which has generated strong buzz among audiences. The epic drama spans two timelines, a historic kingdom and the modern era and explores a powerful father-son bond across generations. Presented by Connekkt Media in collaboration with Balaji Telefilms, the film has been shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Telugu, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Samarjit Lankesh, Nayan Sarika, Ragini Dwivedi, Ajay, and Neha Saxena. ‘Vrusshabha’ is set to release in theatres on December 25.
An unusual and rare creative mix
According to Mathrubhumi, explaining why the film feels special, Mohanlal highlighted its uncommon combination of languages and talent. “It is very special for me because it is a strange combination. A Kannada director is directing a Malayalam-Telugu film with North Indian producers and Malayalam actors. That itself is a strange coincidence,” he said, stressing how rare such collaborations are. Mohanlal revealed that director Nanda Kishore’s narration convinced him instantly. “When Nanda Kishore told me the story, I felt there was something different in it,” he said, adding that the narrative had a strong emotional pull from the very beginning.A challenging film with deep emotions
Talking about the making of ‘Vrusshabha’, the actor shared details about its demanding production journey. “It took a lot of time to make the film because of extensive CGI work. It contains a lot of emotions and tells the tale of two eras. We faced many issues during the making of the film, and I thank all the actors who stood by the project and made it possible,” he said.Mohanlal further emphasised that ‘Vrusshabha’ is different from the kind of films he usually does. “For me, it is a different film,” he said, underlining how the project pushed him into new territory as an actor.
Lessons from working with legends
When asked about his collaborations with iconic actors, Mohanlal reflected on the values he learned from them. “This is something that should be asked of them. When I worked with great actors like Prem Nazir sir, Sivaji Ganesan sir, Nageswara Rao sir, and Amitabh Bachchan, the kind of love they showed me was a lesson in itself,” he said. He further added, “They never treated me as a newcomer or kept me aside. They gave me all the love and support. I believe it is my right and my duty to carry forward that legacy. I try to give the same respect and honesty back to my colleagues. All combinations are special to me.”Trailer release and film details
