The Malayalam film industry has seen many good movies. These movies were not only well appreciated by the audience, but by critics as well. Some movies have also created history with their long run at the theatres. Here’s a list of Malayalam films that ran for more than 300 days...


Godfather :
Godfather is a comedy drama film, written and directed by Siddique Lal. The movie had a huge star cast consisting of N. N. Pillai, Thilakan, Mukesh, Kanaka, Jagadish, Innocent and many more. The film was remade into three languages - Telugu as Peddarikam, Hindi as Hulchul and in Kannada as Pandavaru. This all-time blockbuster broke all records and ran for 404 days in the theatres.

Mollywood movies that ran for more than 300 days

Chithram:
Chithram is a musical drama film directed by Priyadarshan. The movie featured Mohanlal, Ranjini and Nedumudi Venu in lead roles. The movie was remade into four different languages - Alludugaru in Telugu , Pyar Hua Chori Chori in Hindi, Rayaru Bandaru Mavana Manege in Kannada and Engirundho Vandhan in Tamil. The film was a huge success in 1998 and went on to break all the records of Malayalam cinema until that time. The movie ran for 366 days in theatres.

Kilukkam:
Kilukkam is a musical-comedy film by Priyadarshan. The movie revolves around Nandini, an orphan who comes to Ooty in search of her father, but meets Joji, who is a tourist guide. The movie was inspired by American romantic comedy Roman Holiday and was remade in Telugu as Allari Pilla and in Hindi as Muskurahat. Kilukkam was a huge success and ran for over 365 days at many centres. It was was also the first Malayalam movie to earn over Rs 5 crore.

Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha:
Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, which released in 1989, featured Mammootty, Balan K Nair, Suresh Gopi, Madhavi, Geetha and Captain Raju in lead roles. The film is based on the story of Chekavar warriors. The movie was both critically and commercially successful and also won four National Film Awards. According to reports, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha was listed as the third greatest Indian film of all time. The movie ran in theatres for more than 300 days.

Manichitrathazhu is a psychological thriller that is based on the tragic experiences of the Alummoottil Tharavadu, a famous central Travancore family, in the 19th century. The movie showcased an unusual theme which was not common in Indian cinema. It turned out to be a huge hit and also received much critical acclaim. Manichitrathazhu was remade after nearly 10 years in various languages, including Kannada, Tamil and Telugu, Bengali and Hindi. According to reports, Manichitrathazhu was listed as one of the greatest Indian films of all time. The movie ran in theatres for more than 300 days.

The central theme of the film Hitler was the relationship between a brother and his sisters. The movie featured Mammootty, Mukesh, Shobhana, Saikumar, Jagadish and Vani Viswanath. It was a huge success and a commercial hit in 1996. The movie was further remade into different languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. The movie ran in theatres for 300 days.
