Tovino and Kalyani’s ‘Thallumaala’ release pushed to Independence Day weekend

Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer ‘Thallumaala’, which was initially scheduled for release in the month of July has now been postponed to Independence Day weekend. Directed by Khalidh Rahman, ‘Thallumaala’ was reportedly slated for release on July 7, and now it has been pushed to August 12. The makers have confirmed the same. Tovino Thomas has roped in as Wazim, and Kalyani Priyadarshan is the leading lady.
Earlier in his social media post, Tovino Thomas spoke about his experience playing Wazim, who is extremely unique, compared to all the characters he has done in the past. “While I truly enjoy getting into characters that demand a very poised, graceful and sometimes even gritty body language, there is something extremely liberating about doing movies where you get to go all out and just have a lot of fun. Wazim is all that and so much more 😎 I remember thinking years back that there are a few things I just can't see myself doing but, when a character demands it, like in this one, you step up and show up 😊 Specially when you have a rock solid team backing you up and giving you confidence to explore and grow as an artist. Sit back, relax and get ready to go on a roller coaster ride with Thallumaala soon 😉Till then, continue grooving to the killer track you guys seem to be having a blast with! (sic)” he said in the note.

Meanwhile, 'Thallumaala' also marks Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan's first movie together. Expected to be a fun out-and-out entertainer, ‘Thallumaala’ was mostly filmed in Dubai. The team wrapped up the shoot in the last week of April, 2022.
