‘Santhosh Trophy’ first look out: Prithviraj Sukumaran teams up with Vipin Das again for emotional sports drama

The makers of the upcoming movie, directed by Vipin Das and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, have released the first-look poster and confirmed the film’s title. The project has been named ‘Santhosh Trophy’. The poster has created strong excitement among fans of Malayalam cinema.In this film, the ‘Varanasi’ actor will be seen playing a man by the name Santhosh. His character wants to win a trophy before his next birthday. That is his big goal. The story focuses on his journey and emotions. It is a character-driven film. The makers say the story will feel real and close to life. The team has selected nearly 60 newcomers through auditions across Kerala. The makers wanted fresh faces for this story. They believe new talent will bring honesty and natural performances to the screen.The team plans to start shooting soon after a traditional pooja ceremony in September 2025.They have not announced the exact release date yet. However, they are aiming for a summer 2026 theatrical release. This project marks their second film together after the big success of ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ in 2024.The film is backed by Magic Frames and Prithviraj Productions. Speaking of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s work front, he will also be seen in ‘Khalifa’ and SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus ‘Varanasi’ starring alongside Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.Additionally, recently, there were reports that he will also be part of an upcoming Telugu movie. As per 123Telugu, Prithviraj Sukumaran is being considered to be a part of the film ‘Bloody Romeo,’ starring Nani and directed by Sujeeth. He is reported to be playing a powerful role.
