Samyuktha to Parvathy: Celebs who changed their surnames

Starting from Hollywood to Bollywood, there have been plenty of actors who have changed their surnames or even their own names before or after getting into the film industry. The reason for such a change would be personal or numerological. Here let's take a look at some of the Mollywood celebs who have changed or dropped their surnames.

Popular Mollywood actress Samyuktha removed the surname ‘Menon’ from her name. Citing the reason, the ‘Vaathi’ actress revealed that she wants to see equality and humanity and by keeping the surname ‘Menon’, it would appear contradictory. Samyuktha also reportedly said that she has asked the producers of her upcoming movies to avoid using ‘Menon’ from her name.

Talented actress Parvathy dropped her surname ‘Menon’ from her name in 2015. Parvathy penned a long post via her Facebook handle and mentioned that she doesn’t want to attach the caste name along with her name and prefers to be called Parvathy Thiruvothu. She also reportedly asked the media and her film colleagues to not mention her by the name Parvathy Menon.

Manju Warrier dropped her surname ‘Gopalakrishnan’ from her name which is actually the original name of the popular Mollywood actor and her ex-husband Dileep. The surname change happened in the year 2014 and during that time a ‘change of name’ ad appeared in a popular regional newspaper sparking speculations among the public that the celeb couple is planning for a divorce.

Katrina Turquotte, does the name ring any bell? Probably not, because the popular actress Katrina, before coming to the film industry, used her mother’s surname. The actress also reportedly revealed to the media that the reason why she changed her surname from Turquotte to Kaif was that she thought it would be easier for the Indian audience to pronounce her full name.
