Mollywood is getting inspiration from sports of late. After the Nivin Pauly starrer 1983, which revolved around cricket, Prithviraj is all set to act as a footballer in an upcoming film by ad filmmaker-turned-director Jamesh Kottakkal. The untitled film is scripted by debutant Ajaykumar. Mamukoya will also play a prominent role in the film. “For those in Kannur and Malappuram, football is as important as life itself.
I myself hail from this region. The film tells a story that happens in the football crazy Malabar region. Along with Prithviraj and Mamukoya, we are also planning to rope in a handful of youngsters who play football well, to be part of the film,” says the director. The movie will discuss the history of Malabar’s love for the game and how the spirit has sustained over the years, says Jamesh.
The crew has decided to bring out the film this year itself. Meanwhile, Prithviraj is also busy with other projects across South India and Bollywood like Vasanthabalan’s
Kaaviya Thalaivan, Major Ravi’s Picket 43, Tamaar Padaar, Double Barrel, Ennu Ninte Moideen and remake of Koodevide
in Hindi.
