Pongal: Mollywood celebs convey their wishes

Kerala does not celebrate pongal but that hasn’t stopped M-Town celebs from conveying their festival wishes to fans outside the State, on the occasion. Many actors, musicians and more have extended festive wishes for pongal and also lohri, bihu and more that fall around the same time, to their social media followers. Malayalam – Tamil actor Rahman shared a video of his daughter Rushda Rahman practising classical music on the day, and he captioned the video thus: ‘Happy Pongal and Sankranthi to all. Wishing all prosperity this year. A candid capture of Rushda while at her singing practice. If you don’t see me after this ever, that means am shot.’ Meanwhile, actress Lissy Lakshmi shared a photo of hers in an elegant, traditional yet simple sari, and said, ‘Dear friends, Happy Pongal and Makara Sankranti to all. Wishing you all good health and a better year to come!! God bless.’Actor Unni Mukundan wrote ‘Happy Pongal #Makarsankranti’ on his page, while Catherine Tresa Alexander said, sharing a few photos of her flying kites from her terraces, ‘Wishing you a string of joy. Happy Pongal and Makar Sankranti. While we find joy in flying kites on Sankranti, let’s be sensitive towards birds, animals and our environment by choosing cotton threads for our kits and not the banned Manja (synthetic threads) which are extremely harmful. Our joy should not end up becoming misery to others.’ A few other celebs like Sujatha Mohan, Namitha, Shamna Kasim aka Poorna, Gautami Tadimala and Binni Krishnakumar also conveyed their wishes on the occasion.
