Navya Nair’s debut movie ‘Ishtam’ has clocked 20 years since its release today (Oct 5). The actress took to her social media handle and penned a note celebrating the major milestone in her career. The film featured
Dileep, Navya Nair, and Nedumudi Venu in lead roles. “20 years ago, it was on this day, I was introduced to you. My film ‘Ishtam’ got premiered on the silver screen. Thank You for the love and support I received till date,” Navya said in her note.
Navya expressed gratitude to filmmaker Sibi Malayil, who directed ‘Ishtam’, her first hero - Dileep, producers David Kachappally and Siyad Koker for believing in her. She also thanked her co-stars, and filmmakers including Ranjith on the special occasion. Navya added that she can’t thank her fans enough, who have been on her side, ever since her debut.

Navya Nair who ventured into movies in 2001 with Dileep starrer ‘Ishtam’, rose to fame after appearing in ‘Nandanam’. She played the role of Balamani in the film and romanced
Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film was helmed by Ranjith and the romantic drama conquered hearts.
Navya bagged the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film. Following the success of ‘Nandanam’, she starred in ‘Kalyanaraman’, opposite her first onscreen hero Dileep. The romantic comedy too emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. Films like 'Vellithira', 'Pattanathil Sundaran' and 'Pandippada' added to her popularity. Navya Nair’s combination with Dileep and Prithviraj Sukumaran always resulted in blockbusters.
Navya Nair took a break from movies post her wedding in 2010 and started doing selective roles. She is now prepping to make her second innings in Malayalam with ‘Oruthee’, a film by VK Prasad.
Navya Nair is also working on ‘Drishya 2’, the remake of the Malayalam movie ‘Drishyam 2’, the sequel.
