‘Nadikar’ box office collection day 7: The low audience turnout impacts the Tovino Thomas starrer

Tovino Thomas’ latest release ‘Nadikar’ has encountered a stumbling block in its box office journey. Despite its promising premise and talented ensemble cast, the film's audience turnout has been lower than expected, significantly affecting its box office collection in its first week.

Over the course of seven days, ‘Nadikar’ has earned an estimated Rs 4.96 crore in net collections across India, according to a report by Sacnilk. On its seventh day, May 9, the film saw a modest intake, earning around Rs 23 lakh in India net.

The overall Malayalam occupancy for ‘Nadikar’ on Thursday, May 09, stood at a meager 9.26%. The morning shows recorded a mere 3.45%, followed by afternoon shows at 10.47%. The evening and night shows witnessed slightly higher turnouts, with 6.58% and 16.53% respectively. However, looking at the film’s canvas, the ensemble cast, and the impressive storyline, ‘Nadikar’ hasn’t managed to keep up to its hype, and has earned less than Rs 5 crore in its first week. The upcoming days, especially as the weekend approaches, will be crucial for the film.

Directed by Lal Jr. ‘Nadikar’ has Tovino Thomas in the lead role, and actors Soubin Shahir, Bhavana Menon, Suresh Krishna, and Balu Varghese in pivotal roles.

ETimes rated ‘Nadikar’ 3 out of 5 and wrote, “Jean Paul Lal's Nadikar starts off with the lavish and extravagant life of a 'superstar' David Padikkal. There is humor and some foreshadowing, some of it effective and some so hard to catch. Interestingly, it's not as angsty as one might expect with such a subject. The writing is very sloppy in places, and some minor details were off-putting. There is this one scene where they were filming something where Indrans plays the parent's role. The costume was so glaringly out of place. The feeling of artificiality crops up in some of the scenes that require more naturality. A lot of behind-the-scenes elements were covered well. Most of the drawbacks are saved by the presence of the suave man on screen. The film is by no means a masterpiece, but it is an entertainer.”
