Veteran director I V Sasi, who had a successful stint in Mollywood, Kollywood and even Bollywood, is making a comeback of sorts to mainstream cinema after a brief hiatus. The director’s last outing was the Nithya Menen-starrer, Vellathooval. Now, buzz is that he is planning to rope in superstar
Mammootty for his next project. When we contacted Sasi, he said, “Though the project is on, we are still working out the dates.
I can confirm about it only when I’m ready with the script.”
Interestingly, the director is planning a movie based on the the late T Damodaran’s script. Sasi and Damodaran were a hit team, who has given Mollywood several blockbuster movies, including Mammootty-starrers
Aavanazhi, 1921, and I
nspector Balram. The director will approach the scriptwriter’s daughter, Deedi Damodaran, to fine-tune the script. “I am planning to discuss with her so that she can make some minor corrections before we start the work on the film,” he says.
Deedi confirmed the news and said, “Just like the duo’s previous hits, this film will also have a political subject.” Meanwhile, a source close to Mammootty tells us, “Though the project is on, the dates are not yet confirmed. The film is not likely to take off this year as Mammootty is currently busy with Ranjith’s
Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty, after which he will start shooting for G Marthandan’s
Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus.” Sasi is also planning to do another project, apparently with Mammootty’s son and Mollywood’s current heart throb
Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. “Though there are talks going on, I can’t divulge more details about it,” says Sasi.
