Mala Aravindan, the popular comedian of the Malayalam film industry, passed away at a private hospital in Coimbatore on Wednesday. The 76-year-old actor was undergoing treatment at the hospital after he suffered a massive heart attack a week ago.
Aravindan started his career as a tabla artiste. He had etched a special place for himself in the Malayalam theatre arena as well.
He made his film debut with Sindhooram in 1968, and since then he has been an integral part of tinseltown with over 400 films to his credit. Aravindan was the former president of AMMA, the association of Malayalam film artistes.
He is survived by wife Geetha and two children, Muthu and Kala.
