Shamna Kasim is eagerly awaiting the release of her Tamil film Savarakathi, directed by GR Adithya, which has director Ram and
Mysskin playing prominent roles.
The actress says this is one project which she holds close to her heart. The Chattakkari actress adds that of all the films she has been part of, Savarakathi gave her the sense of contentment, and she tells us why, “It is a film that gives equal weightage to the hero and heroine.
Playing a hearing impaired person who is also nine months pregnant, in addition to being a mother of two provided a lot of scope as an actress.”
She says that the film tracks incidents that happen in the protagonists’ life on a particular day, and her look was such that it made her almost unrecognisable. Shamna adds, “Shooting under the scorching sun, riding pillion on a scooter and wearing a prosthetic belly weighing around five kg was indeed tough. But, it was just worth it, as it gave me a platform to share screen space with one of the most experienced people in the industry.”
However, the most interesting part was that she had just one costume to wear throughout the film. She says, “My look in Savarakathi is very unglamorous, and it was ensured that the make-up was kept minimal. It was so real that a fish vendor once mistook me for being a pregnant woman and told me to not wander in the sun and to take rest (laughs).”
