Happy Mother's Day 2020: Five unforgettable cool moms in Malayalam films from 'Varane Avashyamund' to 'Achuvinte Amma'

This Sunday is very special as today the world is celebrating International Mother’s Day. Mother is a part of our everyday life and not a moment passes without her blessings. From embracing you even before birth to spending sleepless nights caring for you and still getting worried for you, moms are Godsent. As the whole globe is honouring moms, here’s taking a look at some super cool mothers from the reel-life in Malayalam cinema.

2/6

Neena from 'Varane Avashyamund'

Neena is a single mother and treats her daughter Nikki more like a friend. Nikki, played by Kalyani Priyadarshan, can discuss everything with her mother including her having a crush on a particular guy. Shobana aced the role of Neena and performed the character of the uber-cool mom with grace. From trying new hairstyles to following her heart, Neena is a mother every person would want in their lives.

3/6

Aishumma in 'Ente Ummante peru'

In the movie 'Ente Ummante Peru', Urvashi essayed the character of Aishumma. Aishumma is not the real parent of Hameed (Tovino Thomas) in the plot. Although initially, Aishumma accepted the role of a mother for the sake of a better living condition, she ends up liking her child. Aishumma is vibrant, unpredictable, a bit impulsive, but at the end of the day, everything she does is for Hameed’s own good.

4/6

Kuttan's mother in 'Bangalore Days'

Late actress Kalpana essayed Kuttan's (Nivin Pauly) mother’s role in 'Bangalore Days'. Kalpana's metamorphosis from a very orthodox villager to a city dweller is phenomenal. From organizing kitty parties to being progressive about her young son, Kuttan's mother's character is worth a mention.

5/6

Vanaja in 'Achuvinte Amma'

Vanaja would be the answer for the coolest mom on reel. Vanaja played by Urvashi, dedicates her entire life for a child she adopted. Vanaja and Achu's (Meera Jasmine) chemistry won the hearts and more importantly, the bond they shared welled up the eyes of the audience. Vanaja is a single mother and hides the reality from her daughter Achu that she is adopted. From accompanying her to college to gossiping about guys, the relationship of the mother-daughter duo is priceless. Vanaja's explanation of a dish she prepares with her broken English remains the most hilarious scene from the film till date.

6/6

Kochu Thressia in 'Manassinakkare'

Kochu Thressia played by Sheela is a widow, who has children and grandchildren. But their busy lives leave Kochu Thressia lonely. She meets this young man called Reji, who is of her children's age, finds a connect with him, and considers him as a son. From taking Kochu Thressia to the cinemas to fulfilling all her wishes, Reji becomes more than a son to her. The duo's chemistry and Kochu Thressia's love for her family is commendable.
