Happy Birthday Bhavana: Unmissable Malayalam songs of the actress

Bhavana, formerly known as Karthika Menon, epitomises grace and strength. One of the most loved and talented actors in South Indian cinema, Bhavana began her career playing a supporting character in ‘Nammal’, for which she won a special mention at the Kerala State Film Awards. While playing some mesmerising characters, Bhavana also forayed into other South Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Bhavana is celebrating her birthday today, and on this occasion, let’s revisit some of her most loved and evergreen songs.

‘Muthe ninne kandittinnen’ is a tuneful duet from Bhavana’s 2004 release ‘Amrutham’. The song features Arun Cherukavil and Bhavana Menon shaking a leg to the number. Composed by M. Jayachandran, the lyrics for the song are written by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri. Madhu Balakrishnan and Sujatha Mohan have crooned the song.

One of the most popular songs featuring Bhavana, ‘Chilambolikatte," is from the 2003 blockbuster ‘CID Moosa’. The vibrant and peppy number is sure to make anyone groove to it. Composed by Vidyasagar with lyrics written by Gireesh Puthenchery, the song was sung by Udit Narayan and Sujatha. The song is full of energy, and you shouldn’t miss it.

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Bhavana Menon played a couple in the 2008 release ‘Lolipop’. Shot in foreign locations, ‘Assalayi’ is a fast number popping with energy. Composed by Alex Paul, the song is jointly sung by Pradeep Babu, Liji Francis, and Vipin Xavier.

‘Swapnakoodu’ was one of the movies Bhavana did in her salad days in cinema. She played the role of the lead’s sister in the film. The song ‘Karuppinazhaku’ features all the lead actors, including Bhavana. Shot in different foreign countries, ‘Karuppinazhaku’ is sure to leave you entertained. The song was sung by Jyotsna, Rajesh Vijay, and Pradeep Babu. Mohan Sithara composed the song, with lyrics by Kaithapram.

Both movies from the ‘Honeybee’ franchise are much loved by the audience. Asif Ali and Bhavana Menon played the lead roles in both films. And ‘Jillam Jillam’ is a celebratory song from its sequel. The song was composed by Deepak Dev and penned by Santhosh Varma. Afsal, Rimi Tomy, and Anwar have sung the song.
