#FilmyFriday! Ayalathe Adheham: All that glitters is not gold

We are back with yet another exciting installment of #FilmyFriday. ETimes presents - #FilmyFriday, wherein we recommend our readers one Malayalam movie, every week. And for this week, we are recommending Jayaram, Gautami, Siddique, and Vaishnavi starrer ‘Ayalathe Adheham’.

‘Ayalathe Adheham’ delves deep into the lives of two married young couples, who are neighbours. Premachandran and Sulochana are like most couples around. They care for each other but hardly express it. Rajeevan and Radhika on the other hand, are head over heels in love. But is all that glitter gold?

Premachandran (Jayaram), a college lecturer, and his wife Sulochana (Gautami), a homemaker shifts to a new city, as the former gets a transfer. The filmmaker gives a glimpse of the scenes of their new residential colony, and their settling in. The couple lives with Premachandran's mother. Their neighbours too are a nuclear family - Rajeevan (Sidhique), a medical representative, his mother (Santhakumari), his wife Radhika (Vaishnavi), a homemaker, and their child. Premachandran and his family have relocated to a warm neighbourhood.

Premachandran and his family shift to a new city as he gets a transfer. He is quite a reserved individual. His wife Sulochana on the other hand is affable and naive. For the housewarming ceremony, Premachandran invites only his colleagues, and the residents are quite displeased over it. Rajeevan, the neighbour is a very outgoing person, and soon forms a bond with Premachandran’s family. Premachandran isn’t happy about it. The whole residential neighbourhood loves Rajeevan. Being a medical rep, he often supplies over-the-counter medicines for free to his neighbours, and is very generous about everything. Sulochana too gets impressed by Rajeevan, as he treats his wife like a queen. From complimenting Radhika for every single thing she does to often taking her for dates and shopping, Rajeevan appears to be the partner, everyone wishes for!

Sulochana, who gets to see this on a regular basis is disheartened because he husband Premachandran hardly smiles at her. Things start to worsen between them, as Premachandran cannot keep up with Sulochana’s expectations. Premachandran even tries his best to prove that Rajeevan is all pretentious, however, ends up belittling himself. But an incident changes the perspective of Sulochana. Want to know more?
