Looks like its the season of experimentation for actor Dileep. After playing to perfection the roles of a hunckback (Kunjikkoonan), an effeminate man (Chanthupottu) and a woman (Mayamohini), the actor is now filming Sound Thoma, where he plays a man with a cleft lip. Close on the heels comes the announcement of Dileep playing Charlie Chaplin in his next.

While buzz is that Dileep is set to play Chaplin in Manoradham, its director R Sukumaran makes a correction.
Dileep will reprise the mannerisms of Charlie Chaplin; but neither is he playing Chaplin, nor will he dress like him.
Interestingly, the actor plays a stone mason in the film. Elucidating on the similarities between Chaplin and the mason, Sukumaran says, Dileep plays someone who has neither seen Charlie Chaplin nor heard about him. However, much like Chaplin, he makes people laugh, though his life is dotted with tragic incidents. Without his knowledge, he somehow starts imitating Chaplins gait and also tickles the funny bone of the people in his life. Like Chaplin, he loves the rain, during which he cries his heart out, without the world seeing his tears.
The director also adds that Dileeps character suffers from multiple personality disorder. His wife is a huge admirer of Chaplin. Its from her and others perspective that the audience learns that Dileep, intuitively, is assuming Chaplins mannerisms.
The director, who has critically and commercially successful movies including Padamudra, Rajashilpi and Yugapurushan to his credit, says, Today, Malayalam film industry is producing a lot of new-generation movies, which portray emotionally disturbing subjects like extramarital affairs. The theme of this film will make people realise the importance of relationships, especially the importance of the bond between a husband and wife.
The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. Scripted by the director himself, the film will have K Ramachandra Babu cranking the camera.
Manoradham will go on floors soon after Dileep completes the shoot of Sound Thoma.
