Actor
Asif Ali has recently clarified on social media about his unintentional omission of other films such as 'Bad Boyz', 'Gangs of Sukumara Kurup' in a promotional video where he featured with actor
Tovino Thomas and
Antony Varghese.
Speaking about the criticism that they did not refer to films outside their trio of releases, Asif Ali said the video was meant to spread positivity and excitement towards the Onam season. Asif Ali reiterated that the video’s purpose was to encourage audiences to watch films of their choice. He added that the omission was not intended to negatively impact any other releases.
According to On Manorama, Asif Ali expressed his disappointment over the oversight and clarified the intention behind the video.
The actor said the exclusion was not an intentional act to belittle other films. He acknowledged that the effort was to promote the film's festive season and encourage people to go to the cinema, which probably could have included more films. He said: "Unfortunately, some omission happened, but that was not intended to do any damage to the other films which had coincidentally been released during the Onam season.".
For the unversed, recently, in a video, actors Tovino, Antony Varghese, and Asif Ali were seen promoting films 'ARM', 'Kondal', and 'KishKindha Kaandam'. Actress and producer Sheelu Abraham had condemned Asif, Tovino and Antony for allegedly promoting only their movies and bypassing the other films that are also releasing during Onam. According to her, such acts spoke of the rise of 'power groups' in the industry.
