Anumol to play Aruna Shaunbag

Actress Anumol is going places. After her commendable performance in God for Sale, the actress will next be seen in Anil Thomas’ Maram Peyyumbol. The movie, which is based on a real life incident, tells the story of Aruna Shaunbag, a nurse who was raped by a sweeper in a hospital in Mumbai. Scripted by Anil, the movie will see Anumol playing Aruna’s character.
On what inspired him to take up this incident, Anil says, “It is sad to know that the victim is still in her vegetative state after 38 plus years.Though Aruna’s assaulter Sohanlal Bhartha Walmiki served two concurrent seven-year sentences for assault and robbery, such issues are on the rise. This is a socially relevant subject that needs to be brought to light.”
However, Anil plans to give the movie a different treatment. “Aruna was in love with a doctor and the couple was planning to get married soon. My movie is about their love story. The events that take place in her life forms the rest of the plot.” The movie also stars Vineeth and Mukesh in prominent roles. While the first schedule has been completed in Mangalore, the second schedule will commence in August. Maram Peyyumbol is tentatively set for an October release.
