Aashiq to direct Dileep next

It’s a known fact that Aashiq Abu prefers working with his friends, and only those he is comfortable working with. And it’s there for everyone to see in movies like Idukki Gold, Da Thadiya, and the segment, Gowri, in Anju Sundarikal. He has worked with his firends, Prathap Pothen, Sreenath Bhasi and Sekhar Menon so far. It was always a wonder then that he hasn’t worked with his long-time friend Dileep yet.
Many even attributed this to the fact that Dileep had once openly spoken against the so called ‘new generation’ films, when Aashiq Abu’s 22FemaleKottayam was the point of discussion. Such films ran only in metros, and not in suburbs, Dileep was quoted as saying. And although he did clarify later that his response was not directed at Aashiq Abu, much was read into this difference in perception.
But it looks like all that is a thing of the past. It is reliably learnt that the two are over their differences. Proving his detractors and rumour mongers wrong, Aashiq Abu is soon set to direct Dileep. “Aashiq and I have known each other since our college days. He joined Maharaja’s College when I passed out. Even while he was working as director Kamal’s associate, we used to keep in touch,” says Dileep.
However, the actor says no further discussions have been made on the film, and even the subject has not been finalised.
When we contacted the director, he also confirmed the news and said, “Yes, I will be working with Dileep soon. But we are yet to decide on other details.”
