A sequel to Devasuram

Although ‘Ravanaprabhu’ marks the directorial debut of Ranjith, he wasn’t new to the industry. He was working as a screenplay writer from the late 1980s. And in 1997, Ranjith gave birth to the character Mangalassery Neelakandan. The script was made into a movie by IV Sasi, and was released in 1997 as ‘Devasuram’. When Ranjith was about to make his first movie as a filmmaker, he adopted the characters Mangalassery Neelakandan and a few others from his own script and made ‘Ravanaprabhu’. ‘Ravanaprabhu’ is considered as a sequel to ‘Devasuram’.
