During the first ever post flood budget, Finance Minister TM Thomas Isaac said that movie tickets will cost more from now on. He proposed that there would be 10 per cent levy of entertainment tax on tickets.
However, it came as a let-down to many filmmakers, one among them was director B Unnikrishnan, who said that this would have serious repercussions in the film field.
Levying tax beyond GST would only affect them more, he said.
He also added that family audience would further drift from theatres, and also said that film unions and organisations have decided to request a change in action.
