Actor Rajesh Madhavan’s debut directorial ‘Pennum Porattum’ has completed four days in the theatres. The film, which hit the big screens on February 13, saw a slight dip on its first Monday.
On Monday, February 17, ‘Pennum Porattum’ collected Rs 9 lakh, as per Sacnilk. Most movies experience a slight dip on weekdays; however, the first Monday hasn’t affected the Rajesh Madhavan directorial much. The previous day, Sunday, the film minted Rs 11 lakh. And on Saturday, the film collected Rs 12. On the opening day, the film collected Rs 11 lakh. Earnings are pretty steady; however, the lack of a weekend spike is still concerning. The collection for the upcoming days is going to be crucial for the film.

‘Pennum Porattum’ marks the debut directorial of actor Rajesh Madhavan. He is best known for his performances in films ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’, ‘Android Kunjappan Version 5.25’, ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’, ‘Archana 31 Not Out’, and ‘Sureshanteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hrudayahariyaya Pranayakadha’.
Meanwhile, ‘Pennum Porattum’ is set in a village in Palakkad, where a young woman and a pet dog turn victims of public rage, following unsubstantiated rumours. Actors Raina Radhakrishnan, Rajesh Madhavan, Subhash Chandran, Shanooj Alanallur, and Satheesh Pulikka appear in lead roles in the film. The film is scripted by debutant Ravishankar. Over 100 actors, mostly newcomers, have acted in the film.
‘Pennum Porattum’ was earlier screened at the 56th International Film Festival of India and the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala in 2025. The film received rave reviews during the screening at both festivals.
