Post Kantara, Rishabh Shetty is back in the big screen to bring back the same love and adulation for the prequel. When the first part was released in 2022, not much was expected from the film. It was made on a budget of Rs 16 crore but it went on to make more than Rs 310 crore at the box office, of the total collection the film collected nearly Rs 80 crore from Hindi version despite releasing two weeks after its Kannada release.
The advance booking for the film had taken a solid start where on the first day itself the crossed USD 50,000 mark but since then the numbers have been growing at a reducing speed. Till yesterday the advance booking had reached nearly USD 94,000 mark and the collections were expected to jump post the trailer which also took place on Monday. But on Tuesday morning the advance booking has gone just a little above USD 113,000 - showing a jump of only USD 18,978.
The film is just 9 days away from the release and going by the trends of the advance booking, it doesn't seem like the film would be taking a big opening unless the upcoming promotional content released by the makers would bring about a change in the opinion of the film. The trailer has received a not so encouraging response from the audience at large, now one’s hoping that the film connects in a big way and it grows with word of mouth post the release. Kantara was the first Kannada film that broke the USD 1 million mark in the US markets.
Kantara 2 will be clashing with
Karan Johar backed and Shahshank Khaitan directed Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari headlined by
Varun Dhawan,
Janhvi Kapoor , Rohit Saraf,
Sanya Malhotra and Maniesh Paul. It would be interesting to see how two diametrically different films would perform at the box office.
