Raksha Bandhan Special: Sandalwood movies based on brother-sister relationship

It's a habit to fight with your sibling, but we stand with them at every stage and support and back them up in any situation. Brother and sister siblings have their own and bond and affection between them. Here are the few movies which tried to show the love and affection in a brother and sister's relationship.

'Thavarige Baa Thangi' is one of the best movies which showed the real relationship between a brother and sister. Shivrajkumar and Radhika played brother and sister in the movie. Shivarajkumar, who is playing the brother's role, sacrifices the life of his sister in the movie. 'Thavarige Baa Thangi' was a blockbuster movie directed by Sai Prakash. The bond between the brother and sister in this movie called for remakes in Telugu and Tamil.

'Varsha' is a feature film directed by S.Narayan, a remake of a Malayalam movie. Dr. Vishnuvardhan has played the lead role named Hitler in the movie. Vishnuvardhan who has five sisters in the movie loses his mom and dad at a very young age and take care of his sisters by working hard and solve all the problems that come in his sister's way. The movie saw good success.

After the success of 'Thavarige Baa Thangi', director Om Sai Prakash planned 'Anna Thangi' with the same theme. Same as 'Thavarige Baa Thangi', Shivrajkumar and Radhika played brother and sister once again. Radhika played the character of Lakshmi who gets married and her husband gets cheated by his brother and goes to jail. Lakshmi will depend on her brother and the brother decides to stand by her side and supports her. 'Anna Thangi' was a decent success and well received by the audience.

'Shourya' is a remake of Telugu movie 'Souryam'. Sadhu Kokila directed this movie in Kannada. Darshan (Surya) and Reema Vohra played brother and sister's role in the movie. Darshan and Reema are shown as orphan kids, who were struggling for a meal. Surya decides to stay away from her sister when some people come to help her. Surya then later starts searching for her and meets her. 'Shourya' was a successful run in theaters.

'Devaru Kotta Thangi' is another project of director Om Sai Prakash starring Shivarajkumar (Shivu) and Meera Jasmine (Lakshmi) as brother and sister, who have delivered memorable acting performances in the movie. Lakshmi gets married to the village head's son, where Shivu works as a servant in that family. This marriage does not go well in the family and Lakshmi faces many problems. Lakshmi, who is pregnant, tries to sacrifice her life for her brother and village and survive with many difficulties. 'Devaru Kotta Thangi' is one of the most sentimental movies in Sandalwood.
