Vijay is now a class actor

When Duniya Vijay and Aindrita Ray’s most recent release Rajani Kantha hit screens, critics were unanimous in their verdict that the film had Vijay in one of his most emotion-packed performances ever. But what they all also pointed out was that the film may disappoint hardcore Vijay fans, as the actor had hardly any action in it — a far cry from his rough-and-tough action hero image.
But if sources are to be believed, this change of image is working in Vijay’s and the film’s favour. According to Prasad, the distributor of the fim, Rajani Kantha has found favour among family audiences. “The response to the film has been good, especially from women and family audiences. The fact that the film deals with the relationship between two brothers, the bond with their mother and the love story is drawing family crowds. But yes, Vijay’s die-hard fans have been saying that they would have preferred if there was more action in the film. In fact, the general consensus is that Vijay has moved from being a mass hero to being a class hero,” he says.
