Among a wide choice of films that feature fathers, sons, and daughters, a select few make really strong impressions

Father's Day beckons us all every year as a gentle reminder to acknowledge the contribution of fathers to their families and also society at large. Over the years, Kannada Cinema too has celebrated the father figure and paid due tributes to the special bond that's forged between a father and his child. A wide array of films have been made through the decades which showcase this very beautiful bond, and as a result, have remained close to the audience's hearts for their impact.

Devatha Manushya (1988)

In Singeetam Srinivas Rao's 1988 classic, Dr. Rajkumar plays an affable tour guide/driver who is falsely accused of a crime and jailed for many years as a result. What follows is deeper turmoil as his personal life gets ruined in the process but things begin to brighten up when a child enters his life. The film traverses his journey through the years and how parenthood changes his life for good. Popular actor Sudharani plays the role of Dr. Raj's daughter in the film.

Pushpaka Vimana (2017)

One of Ramesh Aravind's best performances in recent times, 'Pushpaka Vimana' is a beautiful ode to the father-daughter relationship. As a mentally challenged man who is hell-bent on providing the best life to his daughter, Ramesh Aravind's character encounters several hardships, only to rescued by his own daughter many years later. With a fine combination of beautiful imagery, soothing music, and excellent performances by the cast, 'Pushpaka Vimana' is sure to find its way into your heart at first viewing.

Godhi Banna,Sadharana Mykattu (2016)

A benchmark film of recent times, Hemanth M. Rao premiere labor of love is a lovely emotional ride that offers many nice moments throughout. With his own life serving as an inspiration, Hemanth Rao etches a beautiful story that works from several different perspectives. The father-son relationship, however, forms the crux and soul of the story.

Chowka (2017)

Although 'Chowka' is a multi-narrative feature that works mainly as a thriller, the soul of the film is carried by actor Kashinath's backstory wherein his relationship with his daughter (played by Manvitha Kamath). Despite being a small chunk in the film's large storyline, this specific part makes all the difference and separates 'Chowka' from the rest. One of Kashinath's most memorable roles.

Nee Bareda Kadambari (1985)

A remake of the Hindi hit 'Pyaar Jhukta Nahi', 'Nee Bareda Kadambari' too features a beautiful father-son bond that brings out a unique character to the film. Featuring Dr. Vishnuvardhan at his prime, the film uses the father-son relationship as an instrument of emotional force which makes it a must-watch. 'Nee Bareda Kadambari' also features Bhavya, Hema Chaudhary, and others.
