The ban on Kamal Haasans latest release Vishwaroopam has seen a whole lot of support pouring in for the actor from various quarters. In a show of solidarity, a slew of Kannada actors has come forward in support of
Kamal Haasan and voiced their concerns over the ban imposed on his films screening in Tamil Nadu.
Most of the actors have taken the
Twitter route to express their support for Kamal.
This film was supposed to release on January 25, but a stay order from the
Madras High Court has prohibited its screening in Tamil Nadu. Apart from popular Sandalwood actors like Sudeep, Upendra, and
Ramya showing their support for Kamal, other eminent names like the National Award winning filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli and dancer Vani Ganpathy, filmmaker
Kavitha Lankesh and theatre person
Prakash Belawadi have also questioned this ban that has been imposed despite the Censor Boards clearance. Filmmaker Agni Sreedhar said on a social media site, "Dear friends, the very fact that not even a single Muslim raised any objection to 'vshvaroopam' after its release in Karnataka proves that the film is not anti-Islam(sic). Here are some more tweets.
Upendra: "Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam is not anti-muslim but anti-terrorism, watch in theatres & support the God of Acting, don't view pirated copy."(sic)
