On Tuesday evening,
NTR Jr,
Saif Ali Khan and
Janhvi Kapoor released the trailer of their most awaited film Devara and within seconds, the trailer captured the world by storm. The Telugu version was viewed more than 9 million times, while the Hindi version roped in more than 3 million views. And the direct impact of the trailer could be witnessed in the advance booking numbers of the film in the United States of America, the biggest market for Telugu films outside of India.
Till Tuesday morning, Devara had sold US $ 850,000 ( Rs 7.13 crore) for its premiere show in the USA, and by Wednesday morning, the number had jumped to US $ 960,000 ( Rs 8.05 crore) - a jump of Rs 92 lakh. With the jump in collection, one can also witness a jump in the number of shows which has gone from 982 shows to 1121 shows. The total advance sales for the film has gone beyond US $ 1 million, making it the first film to do so with 16 days left until the shows begin. With few major chains of cinema opening up in the next few days, one can expect the premiere day sale reaching US $ 1.5 to 2 million. It would be interesting to see if the film can beat the numbers of NTR Jr’s last release RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli.
The film marks Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor's Telugu debut. On Saif’s birthday, August 16th, the makers unveiled his first look as Bhaira.
The entire team of the film shot for a special episode for Kapil Sharma’s show on Monday.
Devara was supposed to be one film, but a couple of months back, the makers decided to split the film into two parts. While Saif plays the villain in the first part, Bobby Deol will be joining him in the second. The makers also released a new song called Devudi few days ago, which sees Janhvi matching step by step with NTR Jr, and the song has already become a rage on social media platforms with Shekar Master - the choreographer of the song also joining the bandwagon.
