If there is one thing that
Ramesh Aravind hates, it has got to be sitting idle. The actor-director is rarely known to take a break. “I have to keep doing something every waking minute. In fact, I have things lined up that should keep me busy till mid-2016,” says Ramesh, who is currently in Madikeri for the last schedule of an upcoming film.
The actor in me... I have committed to two projects as leading man.
The first is
Sunil Kumar Desai’s Re, which literally translates to ‘if’. Everything in life revolves around an if, which is the concept of the film. It is a nice lively family entertainer, with a love story. The other film I am about to start is presented by director Pavan Wadeyar. He isn’t directing it, but a group of his friends and associates will make it under his banner.
Donning the director’s hat I am hoping to finish my acting commitments by February 2016 and start on a directorial. Over the last five months I have been working on a script for a bilingual, which I am hoping to make in Telugu and Kannada, or as a Telugu-Tamil bilingual. It’s a big star vehicle, and I am in talks with an A-list Tollywood hero for this. There’s been an offer to direct a Kannada film as well, which, as reported is the remake of the Telugu film Bale Bale Magadivoy, with
Ganesh in the lead. I am yet to sign up for it, but I look at is a challenge in terms of how much value I can add to it.
Small screen beckons Last year, I did
Weekend with Ramesh, which was well-received and I will now be back with the second season of the show. The format of the show will be pretty much the same and will have us celebrating achievers in different fields. The only big difference this year will be that we will have more comfortable chairs for the guests (laughs). The second show that I am committed to is
Inti Nimma Ramesh, which will not be about celebrities. It follows a simple track and has me talking to common people about, say, for instance, the relationship that they share with their mothers or fathers. Every episode will have one buzzword, for which I go around and talk to people, with a camera following me all the while. I have got such amazing tales that no scriptwriter can write.
