The winners of the Karnataka State Film Awards for the year 2010-2011 have been announced. Puneeth Rajkumar has been awarded the Best Actor (Male) Award for Jackie, while Ramya has been given the Best Actor (Female) Award for Sanju Weds Geetha. This is Puneeth’s third state award, but is the first for actress-turned-politician Ramya, who has won several other awards, including the Filmfare Award.
Puneeth has also won several other awards, and his first trophy was the National Award he received for Best Child Artist for
Betadha Huvu.
Other awards were also announced today. S Shivaram has been given the Dr Rajkumar Award, Bhargava received the
Puttanna Kanagal Award and
Ambareesh has been conferred with the Dr Vishnuvardhan Lifetime Achievement Award.
After a complaint by actress
Priya Hassan and producer Basant Kumar Patil — who complained of irregularities —the state government withdrew the awards for the year 2010-11. The previous committee was also dissolved, and the awards announced today were by a reconstituted panel.
