'Prem Adda' to 'Gurudev Hoysala"; 5 films that underwent title changes

Publicity be it good or bad always helps the film to be in the limelight. Especially in the case of title changes, there is always a fight between two groups who claim to have registered the title first and either they change or won’t make any changes to its title. Here are some of the films which had title changes:

Director-actor Prem and producer BK Srinivas got involved in a heated fight over the title 'Adda'. Producer Srinivas held the rights to the title Adda, Prem called his film, the remake of the Tamil film 'Subramaniapuram' as 'Prem Adda'. Prem added his name in small font to still show that his film is called 'Adda'.

The family of late actor Vishnuvardhan objected to the title 'Vishnuvardhana' strongly claiming no one can use Vishnuvardhan's name but the makers Dwarkish and his son Yogish were adamant and changed the title to 'Only Vishnuvardhana'.

Malashree who is known for her dare-devil action films and cop roles did a film called 'Kiran Bedi' which didn't go down well with Kiran Bedi. Kiran Bedi objected to her name being used in the film. The makers simply changed the title to 'Kannadada Kiran Bedi'.

Once again Sudeep's film was caught in title controversy. This time producer Soorappa Babu claimed to have the title 'Varadha' and there were heated discussions to resolve the issue. However, 'Varadhanayaka' was released without the title change and the film 'Varadha' was never made.

Dhananjaya's 25th film, 'Hoysala' is all set for a grand release on March 31 and everything was going on smoothly until the title issue cropped up. Producer Hoysala Murthy has sought an injection to the title 'Hoysala' claiming he registered long back. The makers of the Dhananjaya starrer changed the title to 'Gurudev Hoysala'.
