Only local singers for Chatrapathi

Only local singers for Chatrapathi
The upcoming Siddhanth-Priyadarshini starrer Chatrapathi, which is a remake of the Telugu film of the same name, is one of the few recent Kannada movies that doesn’t feature a single Bollywood singer. Most Kannada filmmakers are keen on roping in Sonu Nigam to croon for at least one track in their album, but Chatrapathi’s director, Dinesh Gandhi seems to think otherwise.

“Dinesh is very particular about promoting local talent and that is why all the singers are from Karnataka,” says Rajesh Ramanath, who has composed the background score for the film. “The score reflects a rare combination of emotion and action, which was attained with powerful Sanskrit verses that are chanted at various points in the film,” says Rajesh.
Rajesh assisted composer MN Keeravani on the songs, which are all upbeat. “The album has four fast-paced songs that are extremely commercial, and only one soft number — a lullaby sung by Akanksha Badami,” says Rajesh, adding, “The highlight of the album, though, is the item number.”
