It was fun to analyse the various quirks of film directors for my next role: Sachin Cheluvarayaswamy

For his next film, Kamal Sridevi, actor Sachin Cheluvarayaswamy is taking on a bold new role as a passionate film director caught in a murder mystery, a significant departure from the simple, grounded characters he is known for. To prepare for the part, Sachin revealed that his process involved extensive mental preparation and workshops. He also borrowed quirks from the real-life directors he worked with.

“When I decided to play this character, I had to analyse the tiny traits and quirks of a lot of cinema directors I have worked with and known. I also had extensive training for a month through a workshop with actor and director Raghu Shivamogga. I was living the character from day one on set. The preparation and my knowledge of the script even before we started shooting helped me get into that flow, where I had become the character even till the last day of the shoot,” he says. Ask him if he feels he has grown as an actor with this role, and he says, “It is left for the audience to judge that, but personally this film is undoubtedly the best performance in my career so far.”

‘Working with Kishore and Ramesh Indira was fabulous’

Working alongside seasoned actors like Kishore and Ramesh Indira was a learning experience, with Sachin calling it his most emotionally demanding and creatively fulfilling role to date. “You get to learn a lot when you work with such strong and professional actors. They are actors who do not waste time on set.
