Actress Sonu Gowda is on cloud nine as she is flooded with offers for versatile roles in Sandalwood. She has signed two new projects -- Shabda directed by Kantharaj Kannall, which also has Meghana Raj Sarja in the lead role, and the female-oriented project, Vasundharadevi, which is being helmed by
Mahesh Chinmai.
Speaking to us, Sonu says, “I play an intelligent cop in Shabda for the second time in my career, after Gultoo. Shabda was supposed to take off in 2019, but was delayed due to COVID. It came as a blessing in disguise for the team as it gave them the time to add finesse to the script. The movie is shaping up well and the screenplay is very sharp. I have one more schedule to wrap up the shoot.”
In Vasundharadevi, Sonu will be seen in both positive and negative shades. “It is left to the audience to decide whether my deeds are right or wrong. I play a powerful politician in the movie, so I had to make some tough decisions which had some pros and cons. I am also working with
Dharma Keerthiraj for the second time; he is such a spontaneous actor.”
Sonu is thrilled with the way her career is progressing post the pandemic. “I am happy that I am busy with shoots, as I have as many as five films in my kitty. The characters are all performance driven, and I am enjoying my work a lot. Then, suddenly, the Jothe Jotheyalli serial also happened, which is taking me to a totally new kind of audience,” she signs off.
