"Something really stupid": Jason and Travis Kelce rip Cleveland Browns’ stadium plan

The Cleveland Browns’ latest stadium decision isn’t sitting well with some of their most famous hometown heroes. NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce are furious over the team’s plan to relocate its home stadium from downtown Cleveland to a suburban site in Brook Park, arguing that the move rips away a key part of the city’s sports culture. And they didn’t hold back in calling it out.On a recent episode of their New Heights podcast, the Kelce brothers vented their frustration with the Browns’ decision to leave downtown Cleveland for a $2.4 billion domed stadium set to open in 2029. The move would place the team’s home about 14 miles away from its historic location, and for Jason and Travis—who grew up in Cleveland Heights—it feels like a major loss.Jason didn’t mince words, slamming the Browns’ promotional video about the new stadium."Something really stupid out in Brook Park that they're trying to get everybody excited about. The stadium [will] no longer be in downtown Cleveland. Boooooo," he said, mixing sarcasm with genuine frustration.Travis backed him up, emphasizing how much better it is when stadiums are in the heart of a city. "Every sports town feels better when [the stadium] is in downtown," he stated.Jason went even further, suggesting the real reason behind the move isn’t about what’s best for fans. "It's way better; they just don't want to pay for it, Travis, or they don't want to cooperate with the city. That's the only reason this is not in downtown Cleveland... Yeah, I'm not a fan. I don't know what you want me to say. I don't like it."Beyond the stadium’s location, Jason also has a major problem with another key decision—the fact that it will have a dome. He believes this strips away the essence of football and takes away the exciting, unpredictable weather conditions that often add to the game’s intensity."I like when the elements play a role in the game. I like it when snow is involved," Jason said, referencing the Eagles’ recent playoff clash with the Rams in snowy conditions. "We had an awesome playoff game here at The Linc this year in the snow against the Rams. That wouldn't have happened with an indoor stadium. I don't like indoor stadiums. There's zero percent that I like about what's happening in Cleveland right now."
