Film maker Agni Sridhar, a long-time associate of deceased
Sandalwood cinematographer Sundarnath Suvarna, is giving away the award money won for his film Thamassu to the family of Sundarnath. The cinematographer died in December, last year, at the age of 60. In fact, Sundarnath worked as director of photography for most of Agni’s films. The prize money amounts to Rs 1.7 lakh.
Suvarna was cinematographer for over 150 films and had also produced and directed some films. A native of Mangalore, Suvarna initially worked with his father in a textile factory.
His cinematography for
Rajakiya and
Nammora Mandara Hoove brought him both name and fame.
Sri Manjunatha, Mussanje Matu, Chellata, Amrutha VarshiniAntha, Anuraga Sangama, Lock Up Death, and
Golibar are some of his other films.
