Filmmaker
Jayathirtha has been busy for quite some time with the shoot of Banaras, a new romantic drama that stars Zaid Khan and
Sonal Monteiro. The film marks the debut of Zaid Khan, son of INC leader and current MLA of Chamarajpet, Mr. B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, and the makers have finally unveiled the first look of the much-awaited film. Oozing romance, color, and culture, the first look promises an intense love story from the director who has previously offered credible films like 'Beautiful Manasugalu', 'Bell Bottom', and others.
'Banaras' is said to have been shot extensively in Kashi and the makers have quite seemingly left no stone unturned to offer a grand visual tale to the audience. From lavish film sets to shoot songs to a multilingual release strategy, Zaid Khan's debut is most likely to be a special one. The shoot was wrapped up back in December of 2020 and the film will release in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam.
Jayathirtha, while speaking to an online portal a couple of months, had shared that 'Banaras' is a poignant love story that "takes a profound look at people and relationships in the backdrop of Kashi". The director, reportedly, decided on using the holy city as the backdrop after being smitten by its cultural ethos and the vibrant sight and sound it offers. The team is said to have shot at all the 64 ghats of Kashi.
On the other hand, Jayathirtha also has the sequel film 'Bell Bottom 2' with
Rishab Shetty and
Hariprriya reprising their roles and Tanya Hope joining the cast. The filmmaker is also part of the five-member anthology project that also includes 'Lucia' Pawan Kumar,
Yogaraj Bhat, K.M. Chaitanya, and Shashank.
