Ragini Dwivedi is one of the glamorous actresses in the Kannada film industry who has a huge fan following. She started her career as a model and became a renowned actress. She made her acting debut from the 2009 movie ‘Veera Madakari’ and acted in many movies like ‘Kempegowda’, ‘Kanchana’, ‘Shankar IPS’, ‘Kalla Malla Sulla’, and others. Recently, the actress completed her 25th movie and 10 years in Kannada film industry. Today, the actress turned 30 and on her birthday, let’s take a look at her journey in the industry.

Model turned actress

Ragini Dwivedi was born in Bangalore to her Punjabi parents Army General Rakesh Kumar Dwivedi and Rohini on May 24, 1990. Fashion designer, Prasad Bidapa introduced Ragini Dwivedi to modelling in 2008. She did modelling for popular fashion shows and worked for designers like Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, Ritu Kumar and Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Ragini also participated in Femina Miss India and 2009 Pantaloons Femina Miss India. Later, she was offered to play the lead in the Kannada movie ‘Holi’.

Acting debut with Veeramadakari

Ragini Dwivedi who was doing a lot of shows with Prasad Bidapa was first recognised by ‘Holi’ fame director who offered her the lead role in his film. Later, she auditioned for ‘Veera Madakari’ and it became the debut movie in her career. It featured Kiccha Sudeep in the lead role and it was directed by him as well. Ragini, who had never taken any acting courses or never prepared for acting, unexpectedly made her debut in the Kannada film industry.

Career’s big break

After making her debut in the Kannada film industry with the movie ‘Veera Madakari’, she acted in many movies like ‘Gokula’, ‘Shankar IPS’, ‘Holi’, and other Kannada films. But, ‘Kempegowda’ gave her a big break in the Kannada film industry, where she played the role of Kavya, a businessman’s daughter. Ragini was also nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for this movie. In 2010, she also made her Malayalam debut with the movie ‘Kandahar’, starring Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan.

Women-oriented movies

Ragini Dwivedi is a huge fan of women-oriented movies, and has played the lead in two women-oriented films ‘Ragini IPS’ and ‘The Terrorist’. She also feels that ‘Ragini IPS’ made a huge difference in her life, and also feels that playing these particular roles was more important to her than just being part of the movies. The actress is playing the lead in her upcoming two women-centric films.

Social worker

Ragini Dwivedi is not only a good actress but also a great person. She is involved in social work as well. During the Coronavirus pandemic, she has volunteered and helped many by serving food, groceries, masks and gloves. Along with this, she is also feeding animals.
